What We Learned from NFL Week 11: The Chiefs are in Trouble

An American football placed on a training bench next to an orange training cone, ideal for sports concept.

The Sunday slate of week 11 brought the drama, let’s recap what we learned from this weekend’s slate of games.

The Chiefs are in Real Trouble

Despite early season struggles, no one has been counting out the Chiefs. No matter their record going into the playoffs, they are the AFC team that no one wants to face. But will they even make the playoffs?

After losing on a last-second field goal to the Broncos on Sunday, the Chiefs are now sitting at 5-5 and are the 9th seed in the AFC. On top of being out of the current playoff picture, the division is all but out of reach. Suddenly the Chiefs are in real danger, and can’t afford many more losses this season.

Now, you can’t count out the Chiefs until they’re fully knocked off, but their season is certainly hanging in the balance.

The Seahawks have a Sam Darnold Problem

The battle for the NFC West went to the Rams, largely thanks to the Rams defense and the struggles of Sam Darnold. For what’s been a great year so far for the Seahawks and Darnold, Sunday was a great disappointment.

Darnold threw 4 picks as the team failed to score a touchdown until late in the 4th quarter, and were unable to put together a game winning drive with less than 2 minutes remaining.

The Seahawks have one of, if not the best defense in the NFL, but their season will come down to the offense and Darnold’s play. It’s hard not to think of Darnold’s playoff performance last year when watching this game, and wonder whether he’ll be able to step up in the playoffs.

The Bears Have Found Something

Ben Johnson has revitalized a franchise that has come accustomed to losing. While almost every game they play feels like a close game, they have consistently been able to come out on top… something last years’ team couldn’t.

Sunday’s win against the Vikings was another one possession win for the Bears, who just keep finding ways to win games. The offense did not have their best day by any means, but special teams and defense was able to step up and make the plays needed to win the game.

Even though they haven’t looked like a dominant 7-3 team, winning many games by one possession, the fact that they have this record is impressive. Johnson has instilled a winning mentality into this team, and whether they win the Super Bowl or miss the playoffs, the franchise is building something.
